Re: Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.3 XV808
For once, the presence of 'people' compared to the reenactors that pitch up at places like Duxford actually enhance the pictures. Or is it that it could have been me 50 odd years ago! They really have got it right.... SLR, DMS boots, puttees, turtle pot steel helmet even the haircuts! And the dude i...

35mm Slide Collection for 'sale'
Hi All, I have a large collection of 35mm aircraft slides looking for a home. Mainly military, taken between about 1991 and 1999. I'll admit that some are of 'dubious' quality- primarily down to my photography skills. If they don't find a home they are destined for the skip - which I really don't wa...

Re: Coltishall 65th Anniversary event 16th Sept 2005 Part 2
Brings back a few memories, I was on 6 slightly before this event. I was on 31 at the time and we made a point of bombing up the jet with a max load of 12 brimstone and 4 alarm just to show what a real jet could carry.

Hell of a view from the back garden in picture 3 and 4. Bet it was a bit noisey when they were engines running though.

Re: F-111E 'Jack & Retract' Demo - Upper Heyford 1992
I remember seeing a few similar demos with a Tornado and Jaguar at Cottesmore and Colt respectively. Gives you an idea of the amount of stored energy in those systems to move them, especially against the airflow. We all know ejection seats are dangerous on the ground but many have learnt to their co...

Manston Airshow 1990
A few from the one and only time I attended this show. Aside from the fact that it was blooming hot and really busy with punters I don't recall it bringing up anything particularly memorable. However looking back..... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50538179127_28e86c591d_b.jpg 19900715 XX317 Ha...

Re: Middle Wallop 1992 Part Two
For many the star of the show was the RNZAF UH1H Surely it was the Hawk!!  Sorry to hijack another of your threads - but I was there too. I seem to remember the weather being pretty awful on Saturday, but clearing up later and a scramble to resurrect some of the earlier slots - inclu...

Nice set and great memories from you guys. Sad to see those great stalwarts waiting for the breaker. Quite a change of airframe for 100sq. Thanks for posting I don't think many Canberra guys transferred over to the Hawks, maybe stickshaker would know? One thing for certain was the Hawks added anoth...

Re: RAF Wyton 1990-1993 Part Deux
I was flying the Hawk at the time but don't recall exactly what was happening in the fleet. To be pedantic, and for anyone who is interested, they weren't all T1As from the TWUs. There is a subset of the T1 fitted for practice weapons, often referred to as T1W, although that designation never offic...

Middle Wallop 1992 Part One
Next batch of slides scanned. I want to try and stay away from the standard airshow shots and cover the behind the scenes and the less well known shows. So here goes: In 1992 I was invited to assist as a Runway Controller at the International Airshow and Heli-meet hosted by the Army Air Corps at Mid...

Only RAFG- dual language English and German. If you look carefully at the 3Sqn GR5 you can see a low visibility version.

Re: RAF Wyton 1990-1993 Part One
Super shots WJ633 reminds me of old USAF colours in the good old days. Terry Yep, and quite tastefully done. They did have another one the same- WD955 Echo Mike which at the time was the oldest aircraft in service with the RAF apart from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Don't seem to have a d...

Always loved Canberras, from an early age 85 Sqd fleet recovering into Binbrook over our house. Re: More Aviation Porn: Explicit Content: (Nearly) Naked C141B
My thoughts exactly, Mildenhall was VERY busy post GW1. Not unusual to see 8-10 C141 in the course of a day. Not the best of photos but I wasn't going to miss it.
