Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 General Discussion Thread

I honestly can't decide whether he's genuine, or being sarcastic or just simply winding people up because he’s hacked off with the questioning of how good or not the participation list is looking this year. IF there are still 5 more announcements of things that might really please the enthusiast co...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 General Discussion Thread

Nice to see the US Army again. USAF AMC listed as declined so possibly no heavies from the Americans. Unless the an Reserve on ANG accept Yes still possibly get a C-17, the last couple of years it has appeared under a Reserve flag rather than the 437th. Very quiet update though this close to the sh...

Re: Yet more from the eighties...

Interesting to see 987 Buccaneer with its original bomb bay and numbers on the belly before it gained the more familiar bulged bay it paraded around many shows in the 90s. Also XL563 pre rippled. Nice post.

One based aircraft on static display - fantastic effort from the home team!

Some nice shots with the lovely backdrop.

Looks like they've gained a darker grey scheme than when I saw the one at Boscombe show 33 years ago!

Nice shots.

Re: LN Strike Eagles going home

So how long do we think we will have them at Lakenheath for? From what I’ve read, if it’s gonna happen won’t be until around 2030. There’s a lot of ifs and maybes about it still. By which time the F-15Es will have been at Lakenheath for 38 years! That's seriously old. We retired our Tornados after ...

Re: BAe Brough Open Day - 18 June'83

Did it have an RWR on top of the fin?

XT852 had one fitted, certainly by 1984, as far as I can tell XT853 never had one, certainly not by 1984.

Re: Turkish F4 Phantom lucky escape

looks like a planned manoeuvre to me. There’s a substantial dip over the horizon which makes it look far lower than possibly was and he doesn’t appear to power up as if he took evasive action. That's correct, as in a driving lesson emergency stop, when the navigator taps his sunglasses case on the ...

Twente 1996

1996 saw the annual Dutch Open Day at Twente. Weather wasn't as good as the previous two, but still some nice items on show. A far side tour of the flightlines presented some good opportunities including stopping to see the new fleet of transports (Fokker 60s) up close. The Slovak MiG29 had a bit of...

Volkel 1995

The mid 1990s shows in the Netherlands were truly massive one day events, with flying displays lasting eight hours and static parks rammed with exotic hardware, the recently opened borders to Eastern Europe attracting multiple Czech and Slovak items and later the Polish and Hungarians. Volkel 1995, ...

Leeuwarden 1994

My first and favourite Dutch, the fantastic 1994 show at Leeuwarden. I wish I could have spent more time on the flying, some great displays including a Spanish Mirage F1, the amazing Czech MiG21 and flame trailing MiG23 and the wonderful sight of a pair of Portuguese A-7Ps performing mirror pass and...

Quite a collection, great catch on the Colorado Uni Voodoo. And I can never recall seeing a camo Convair before. Brilliant post.
