Re: RAF Coningsby at The Fence (20/03/2025)

Zac, I spent a day at the fence on 4 th March and photographed : 1x 11 sq 3x 12 sq 1x 2 sq 8x 29 sq I didn't bother shooting the unmarked examples but I think maybe three or four came out from the north side and maybe six from the shelters on the south side, so yes it's an improvement. Also 41 sq ha...

Nice set Bollo. Has all the taxying been via Alpha on the north side or crossing on Charlie to Bravo as the Spangs did last year? Hoping to get there next week.

Always enjoy looking at your shots Paul, they allow me to keep up to date with which KC-135s carry a fin tip stripe or not.
Small correction - picture six is 59-1476, 59-1475 of course being a 100th machine.

Another airfield slowly being dismantled, runway almost gone and some massive structure erected at the eastern end. Shame, had a few good visits there, being relatively close to the UK.

The Chinooks were due at Pippingford on the 18th for 5 days but were cancelled due to weather.
Did I miss the heads-up?

P
Knowing when Pippingford is likely to be active would be very handy for me as well. Anyone care to share?

Re: Spotting At Lajes

I'm guessing you have never used Google maps. If you go to Google maps you can zoom in on the airfield. Then click on and drag the yellow man symbol (bottom right of screen) on to one of the roads that becomes highlighted in blue and then release your clicked finger. It will then reveal the view fro...

Frequency in use was 130.675.

The Red's support Juno was ZM 531 for anyone that saw it from/to Odiham I think.

Re: Eastbourne 22

From 2015 to 2018 it was 132.9. In 2019 it was 130.675. These are what is known as "common display frequencies", I have a list, which is very old now, which has six of these listed, so in theory it could be one of several. I have been able to hear the comms from my house before, so if I'm not too bu...

Re: Eastbourne 22

Bit late getting to this but as a local here goes. Obviously there has not been a show for three years now but I don't suppose too much has changed. Previously the Typhoon and F-16 have been flown from Biggin Hill so they normally arr/dep from/to the east along the coast. The Reds have previously ar...

Nice view of a housing estate if you went to the same location now.
Had some good times there but wish I'd made more of it, probably the same for others fortunate enough to remember those times.

Lovely stuff from a great era. Thanks for posting.

Such a shame that you can easily spend a whole week at Mildenhall these days and not see a visiting 135.

Re: MILDENHALL Wx DIVERTS

Ramstein is another airfield where weather diverts from Mildenhall go. They have used Lakenheath before but as has been said, I think it may depend on the status of the runway cables and the current ops. It can take a bit of time to get the cables rigged/de-rigged. I've seen KC-135s land at Mildenha...

I live less than an hours dash from Shoreham and have had reason to pop in there over the years, though sadly not since 2014 when there were four Belgian SF-260s present. Unfortunately I don't get a heads up on the choppers that visit for lunch and/or fuel otherwise I would go more often. Other high...

That's quite a line up from a unit seldom seen on this side of the pond.

Anyone know whether the KC-46s here and elsewhere are likely to get tail marks denoting their home base?

Makes them far more interesting from a photographic viewpoint.

Re: A busy day at RAF Honington July 1993.

Camo and squadron markings, wonderful.

First time I went to Honington they had Buccaneers, sadly no photos but they were very twitchy about spotters back then so I would not have lasted long at the fence.
