Re: Lakenheath air ex NOTAM

I'm 5.5 miles from STANTA and it's extremely foggy here today, so not sure whether the exercise will actually take place. If the weather is clear you will see the fixed wing aircraft from pretty much anywhere around STANTA, the rotary aircraft tend to be NOE and much harder to spot except when comin...

Re: USMC F-35B down in the US

Listening to the ATC, the Herc crew said they'd lost engines 3 & 4 when they declared the emergency to LA Centre, extrapolate what you will from that, but sounds to me like the F-35 may have clonked them. It also means the crew managed to put that plane down in a very asymmetric configuration - whic...

Re: AIM120 Training Rounds

Were they actually AIM120s or were they an ACMI-style training pod? They often fit a dummy round on one shoulder pylon, and the training round on the other side.

Most likely won't as they were running out a few years ago plus the J has better engines. The ANG LC-130s have recently upgrade the propellers so will be using JATO less.
Stock now totally depleted I believe.

Re: Buzz off RAF low flyers hit by flack

But it’s all those that move into these areas and then complain that should be ignored. If I bought a house next to Heathrow, or the East Coast mainline, then I must expect noise Unfortunately this isn't the case, a few years back somebody moved into a house near to a race track (Thruxton possibly?...

I think it looks alright. I wish they'd done something more creative with the engine nacelles though.

Re: RRR607 Voyager ZZ336 (new paint scheme)

I can exclusively reveal that an anonymous source tells me that this aircraft is actually being painted in a special bullet-proof paint! The paint contains a finely ground powder mostly containing depleted Uranium, that has been developed in a highly secretive lab at Boscombe Down. The paint will in...

Re: Eurofighters for Egypt ?

It seems massively risky to sell a current state-of-the-art aircraft to a country in such an unstable region. I read yesterday that the Russians are sneaking aircraft and equipment into Libya to support Field Marshal Haftar in the second Libyan civil war as they want to have influence over who ultim...

Re: F-15 venting fuel?

As others have said, this photo is of the actual leak, not the dump (the F-15 dump mast is out the wingtip, and typically done over the sea). I'm working from home at the moment and watched as it came tearing OTT here on the way out to the EAMTA and it caught my attention as it seemed lower than usu...

*EDIT* to answer my own question, it looks like 233.075?

Re: Missing man formation

No, this was a very deliberate one aircraft gap where the number 3 jet should have been. It looked like a 'missing man', with the number 2 tucked up to the lead's wingtip as usual and a very obvious aircraft sized gap till the #4. Hence me wondering if a jet had gone u/s and the flight had carried o...

Missing man formation

Just as I was leaving work tonight (17:30) a flight of F15s flew over Thetford in a missing man formation with the number 3 jet absent. Did anyone else see it? Does anybody know if an aircraft went u/s and headed home by itself today or are they practising for a fly-by or something??? :S

Thanks,

Re: Russian Carrier Admiral Kuznetsov to sail through channe

HMS Quorn is also in the area, German frigate appears to be down as well. According to a post on Twitter, HMS Ocean is taking part in a mission in the Gulf, highly doubt they've brought it back up here to shadow the Kuznetsov. Lots of NATO vessels currently sailing up the channel shadowing the Russ...
