Re: Yet more from the eighties...

Another triumph Freddie :thumb: No matter where you went in those times, it was virtually guaranteed that something interesting at some point in the day would show up. More often than not (in my case), it was usually at the end of the day, after I'd left for home

Who did you travel with? It was an APC (Aviation Photo Club - the precursor of COAP,) tour of the Moscow area. Base visits included Ivanovo, Ryazan and the Chernoye Mil Mi-2, Mil Mi-8 and Antonov An-2 repair and restoration facility. We also visited the museum at Monino and spent two days at Zhukov...

Re: Russian aircraft drone attack

While I take my hat off to the Ukrainians for their initiative and daring in pulling off this successful mission, let's not forget that it is also a two edged sword. I can remember an incident back in the 1990's (during the troubles), when John Major and some of his cabinet were 'mortered' at 10 Dow...

Splendid set of images, just got to love those Ramsteins. Regrettably I very rarely ventured down to
Bentwaters /Woodbridge, they had some excellent visitors in the 80's.

Cheers guys, you can never have 'too many' 104's :thumb: Although this was the last occasion of them turning up at Valley, it wasn't entirely the last I saw of the 104G. The following year at the Lakeheath Open House, I was absolutely delighted to see 23+01 turn up out of the blue, resplendent in t...

104's @ Valley 1987

I was fortunate enough to be at the RAF Valley Open Day in August 1987, and also watched the arrivals the day before. It was a decent line up of visitors and also coincided with the 74 Sqn STAACME deployment for the following week. Unfortunately the flying display itself was disrupted by a very low ...

Re: USS Midway Museum, San Diego - 3 April 2025

Great set of images. Actually I beg to differ, I think it's a very practical idea to dual mark the fighters, primarily considering the limited amount of space topside, and it adds to the variety of amazing colour schemes the USN adorned their aircraft in the 1960's & 70's. Believe me, it could be wo...

Re: Canon Powershot compacts

Hi Lee, thanks for your feedback. Likewise I had already tried your suggestion - selecting AV mode with the widest aperture, then removing the lens hood, to get closer to the fence. Ordinarily that works fine when the subject is at distance. When it's close up to the chain-link it becomes a problem,...
