Northolt nightshoot XXX 07-03-2024
I had my first taste of a Northolt nightshoot (or any nightshoot for that matter) on Thursday. A very enjoyable experience with a lot of setting adjustments (and experiments) to try to keep the exposure times down because of the wind trying it's hardest to shake the tripod. I probably looked stupid ...

Thanksgiving holiday 2023
As tomorrow (23rd) is Thanksgiving and Friday is a US holiday I assume Lakenheath and Mildenhall are closed for those two days and the weekend. Sometimes when the Friday is a bank holiday they also have the following Monday off as well so will that be the case for the coming weekend or are they back...

here's a selection of my photos from a recent Lakenheath visit on 7th November: I started off at the 06 end but light wasn't very good so soon moved up to the forest end https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53327591879_f59eb5257f_h.jpg 98-0131 F-15E USAF Lakenheath 07-11-2023 9021-T by Andrew Goldsmi...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2023 - 16th & 17th September
that's what I want to see as well. Enjoy the show i've had a look at google earth and FYI that hedge line is 350m off the runway centreline. The centre of the football pitch in the community centre which I understand is where they park is about 600m and looking at streetview the trees shouldn't be a...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2023 - 16th & 17th September
You can't normally go on the field between the M11 and Hunts road which is the road into Duxford and the school but the field opposite the school entrance is now a park and nature reserve so you can go in there, I usually go to the far side of it and through onto the hedge line on the edge of that f...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2023 - 16th & 17th September
£52.50 for one adult and car ,ouch. The school isn't open this year but the community centre is with parking for £10 per car and there is a cafe and toilets and some charity stands. you can stand there and watch if you don't want to go in. quote from the FB page: Location: Cafe’ 19 & Community Cent...

Re: Stansted July 2023
Hi all, Would Tremhall park be an option for pictures from the southside of the runway, it’s across the highway. I’m opting for arrival of the VH-3s and Departing VC and C-32… Would that work? Robert if you're referring to Thremhall Priory between the B1256 and A120 (Bury Lodge lane) then i'd say n...

Re: Biden "mini" state visit
I've seen 21,00 on the Stansted google group, didn't state if that was UTC or BST but the poster normally gives the local time i.e. BST in this instance. Helicopter flight arrival given as 19.55 by the same poster albeit in a different post. HTH Andy I've seen 2100UTC and BST on Facebook. Someone w...

Re: Biden "mini" state visit
I guess we all did our own maths but I was just generalising that if you get there by 3pm you should be ok but if you want to arrive at 15:49 then go for it If you want to see the choppers again you will have to guesstimate a couple of hours before to make sure. Obviously if the glad handing and ba...

Re: Biden "mini" state visit
"Est. AF1 Arrival: 7:50 PM" in Lithuania According to the press pool link posted above AF1 arrives in Vilnius at 19:50 EEST or 17:50 BST on Monday So it's about 2:35 flight time from Stansted according to Google ( AF1 will probably be a bit faster than Ryanair) therefore if nothing changes AF1 shou...

Re: Biden "mini" state visit
I see that factba.se has duplicate times for Stansted to Winfield (is that Woolie's HQ?). 5:10 and 6:10 EDT. I still take that to be 23:10 local. Also, any other estimates on flight time from Dover? Is it more like seven hours? two of the C17s (RCH 3253 & 4536) that arrived at Stansted from dover o...
