Re: Final flights XH558
The whole stay away, hush hush nature of the last few flights was a kick in the teeth to all who have supported her and using excuses such as danger to service disruption at a very quiet airport is poor. They know the "Vulcan effect", know the crowds etc and could have planned to do something, whil...

Re: Final flights XH558
I hope all the bs spouted about crowds etc doesn't rear its ugly head when/if they do fast taxi runs. Why is it BS? Don't you believe that hundreds and possibly thousands would have turned-up if it had been widely advertised as the last flight. While it is disappointing not to witness the event liv...

Re: Replace Trident with jets
Ridiculous to suggest an aircraft launched deterrent is appropriate in any way. That would be a sensationally idiotic backwards step for anyone. The point was already made, the fact that the submarines are fully mobile and in the most part undetected is the key. Thank goodness some of you don't run ...

Re: Lancaster Dorsal turret
I heard that the turret was on display in Lincoln somewhere, (iirc. Drill Hall) and was donated to the BBMF. I also recall that Hindles of Lincoln made the metalwork as this was missing....

Re: US Pavehawk Incident - Norfolk
Very soft terrain, so in relatively high speed impact, (which it appears), the majority of individual heavy parts would bury I suspect.steve149c wrote: But looking at the wreckage - this doesn't appear to be a 'normal' crash as the debris field is large and the pieces of helicopter are so small.
Very sad.

Re: Red Arrows inquest starts tomorrow
Most reasonable people in this world would, I believe, share and send thoughts and sympathies for those directly involved in any accident culminating in the loss of an individual. On an aviation based website, and when an aviator, (especially that of high esteem within the Red Arrows), is tragically...

Re: Red Arrows inquest starts tomorrow
Not really the time for 'I told you so' Jem despite what others may have said. I'm sure most of us would have considered G impairment as a possibility amongst other speculative theories. Maybe you're right, however being over-sensitive and sentimental to these events until then end of time, (if not...

Re: News Letter Thread
Well Wikipedia says "the trust still has several replacement engines in their stocks". And I'd rather trust that information than either of you. They have two fully serviceable "zero hour" engines, and two further "questionable" zero (or very low) hour engines. Of the two questionable engines one i...

Re: Thefts from shop
When i took on the business, i was told by the previous owner that the gift shop wasnt worth having. I'm sure this is true, and as you already stated, it is more trouble than it's worth. Why not set up an eBay shop, with collection only maybe? Get shot of your existing stock, and just stock in futu...

Retail property (particularly) has to put up with theft and attempts regularly unfortunat...

Re: Hedgewatch
For the life of me, I cannot comprehend the thinking of people who take a lot of effort to create a aircraft viewing area (an excellent initiative, in my view), and then proceed to plant a ten-foot high hedge, the sole purpose of which can only be to make viewing difficult! How crazy is that? I'm s...
