Lincs, Wildcats in trail followed by Puma/Chinook, as they headed NNE to start the run in with one r/h orbit and through our overhead again before commencing a l/h turn for Cranwell. More than I had expected to see today...so happ...

Re: Vulcan Splisby Crash 1977?

I recall in subsequent days, a Canberra carrying out some overflights and also a Whirlwind spending some time in the hover above.

Having seen the Vulcan, clearly with fire, and counting parachutes out, it was still very shocking when it went nose down to leave the sky....

Re: A-400 (Atlas?)

I think it was an Atlas that we sighted over Gunby, up in the haze, heading Donna way again today and later heard but not sighted on way back.

Sighted the A400 en route to the range over Gunby Hall Gardens.

Also sighted a C130 heading that way in the morning and away again, back SW, just before lunch.

Re: The Antiques Roadshow RAF Coningsby Tonight

I found it fascinating to see the XM600 related items on the Roadshow. Especially as I had witnessed the crew escape and the loss of this Vulcan in 1977. Watching from the school playing field we had seen the rear crew parachutes in the distance and then a fourth 'chute when the aircraft was nearer....

Right over the top of Gunby Hall & Gardens too. . On the way to display as a single formation...returning as two flights. A single Hawk passing us, heading NNW, earlier in the day too. ...and today, 24/8/14, I suspect it was the Reds that I heard passing just West of us at Gunby at 4:58pm.....

Thank you for posting the movements list. I just knew that was a Hunter that I was seeing in the distance turning onto approach...viewed from my work location at Gunby. :)

The Dakota passed overhead us this morning routing back from its sortie out towards the coast. :)
