You'll need a relatively high ISO depending on the light available, certainly 400 and prob 800 at least, keep the aperture of the lens wide open so F2.8 if you have it, or 3.5 / 4.5, use shutter speed priority which'll keep the shutter speed as high as poss, ands last but not least, good technique.

Sat in a " follow me " car at Fairford with a good friend at the time mid 90's I think with a mixture of Tornado's / Mig29 / Red Arrows pretty much on the bumper of the car, also sat in the cockpit of a B1b and the Mig29

On the same sort of subject, is it worth a trip to the loop these days, been loads of times in the past but with the Tornados now grounded and I believe Typhoon still not transiting through LF7. Its always good for C130's not seen an A400 or any Apaches or Chinooks as yet. Its always pot luck, I und...

Staverton gets its fair share of Herc's /Apache's / Chinook's and Puma's,seen all of these from time to time, also seen a BBMF Spit land refuel and go and DC3 do a flypast, no serials unfortunately, but I'm a keen local aviation photographer.

The Aviator does a good brekkie of lunch ..........

As mentioned before, the one at Coventry Air Museum or Wellesbourne are worthy of a visit, Wellesbourne is only open at the weekends thou as far as I'm aware, the 2 aren't that far apart so you could do both !!
