Looking at a social media post by Red 1 - it's almost definitely Reds 4 and 5 that have gone.

I'm going to a talk by OC RAFAT Wednesday night, wonder if anyone will dare ask what happened??

Mike

Re: Queens birthday Flypast

These guys might be worth a look… https://youtu.be/_SshEjHXoE0 Something specialist like that is probably your best bet. Sadly I think (for all news channels, not just the BBC) an aircraft flypast is not really a viewer-puller; I raised the flypast in my local a couple of evenings ago and was someo...

Simple - never, ever read the Daily Mail "news"paper and never clickbait a Daily Mail link. Works for me.

Sorry I can’t remember the exact time I think it was lunchtime and again about an hour later.
What time do you have lunch? FR24, PlaneFinder and ADS-B Exchange all have playback facilities. Hopefully one of them might give you the answer.
Err, I've given him the answer :S :S

Just seen a Hawk at 720kts drop to -50ft in the Irish sea on ADSB. I hope this is misleading data.
Can already see the Daily Fail headline!
...and an explanation of the technology being used to measure a Hawk's depth at 50 feet under the surface!

Voronezh Malshevo AFB- a right eclectic mix - https://goo.gl/maps/1i9S4guRcJmjN9Sd6

Akhtubinsk, their Boscombe equivalent - https://goo.gl/maps/ttb1n4i5PGcrkqEU7 area to the north is a testing range.

Eyeballing Russian Airbases

Google Maps has just released higher resolution satellite imagery of all Russian military installations (obviously includes air bases), so armed with this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Russian_Air_Force_bases - I have just spent an entertaining hour eyeballing some. Fascinating stuff - by...

Re: DE&S Invests £695 Million In Hawk Training Jets & Red Arrows

Err no, the contract primarily involves the T2, not the Red Arrows T1. The T1 support is a relatively minor add-on, regardless of the rather sensationalist headline.

Re: Hawks at Boscombe Down

It was suggested that they were owned by QQ, they never have been, nothing to do with them at all. They were an RAF assett and QQ never flew them in their CAM role. Agree QQ did have a contract for maintenance support however.

I believe they may be owned by QinetiQ........
No, nothing to do with QinetiQ. These are (about to be were) the RAF's aviation medicine aircraft. Unit lodges at Boscombe.

Re: Canada selects F-35A

At least the F-16 often has some colour and charisma, now just a sea of grey F-35zzzzzz won't have anything like the same attraction. I know that's not its purpose but it'll make aviation more boring for the enthusiasts and photographers. Say goodbye to all those fantastic special schemes on the CF...
