Re: Cottesmore RIAT 2001 - large post

Excellent set. I missed this one as my sister was not an aviation fan and decided to get married that weekend!! I remember turning up at the previous Cottesmore RIAT in shorts and t-shirt and ended up buying fleece to get through the day.

Here's the other side of the F-4D. Not sure if my early 126 slide image helps the discussion re. the colour scheme.

Re: St.Mawgan International Air Day: 6th August 1975 (Pic. Heavy)

Great set of photos. This was my first St Mawgan Airday and I only took a few photos with my trusty Kodak Instamatic so it's really nice to see what the aircraft actually look liked compared to my blurry images. I was only a young lad and don't remember seeing most of the types featured. Great trip ...

Re: Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre

Did the council ever give a logical reason for not wanting the the Heritage Centre on site. St Mawgan is pretty massive and would've thought it could accommodate many different multi use activities especially since the demise of the Virgin space venture?

Cracking set. The US Army UH-1 is interesting, not seen a photo with that missile load before as is the fully loaded Viggen.

Excellent shots from my local airbase. The place was a lot quieter once the Canberras moved out.

Lovely post. Definitely one of the best I've been to. Quantity, quality and all at a decent entry price. Thankfully I was around to see shows like this. Unfortunately modern day efforts don't compare for a variety of reasons.

100 Years of Aerial Refuelling

This week the US Air Force marked 100 years of aerial refuelling. Next month's RIAT has a Skytanker theme. So here's a few photos to celebrate aerial refuelling. King Hussein was always a great supporter of RIAT. Here he is in 1994 doing a tour of some of the static.

Thanks for posting. Amazing quantity and quality at this show. Seem to remember it was extremely hot and I got terrible sunburn on my legs. The sacrifices we make for our hobby!

Re: A few from my travels 2008-2013

Thanks for posting. I avoided taking a camera with me while travelling around the Middle East and Africa on business to avoid temptation. Lots of interesting planes, civil and military, but I didn't fancy languishing in a foreign jail for my hobby.

I think this was a pinnacle for Farnborough in modern times. Just so many rare types all at one show. Glad I was there to witness it.

The Gnat was a truly small jet compared to modern types.
