Canadian International Airshow, Toronto
We've moved to Toronto so I've been looking at the local airshows coming up next year. Has anyone on FC been to the Canadian International Airshow in recent years? In 2024 it was one of the shows that the Red Arrows did but I don't know what other kinds of performances it gets in normal years. I ass...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
The further away people live the earlier they needed to arrive to get parked for the show to start, we left at 3.30pm on Saturday having got up at 4am left at 5.30am arriving at the end of the red queue at 9am to finally get in after being in the slow red queue merging with another road at 11am - b...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
We had a great time on Sunday. We did leave the house a bit later than planned so did get stuck in traffic a bit on the Blue route but were parked not much after 8 and security was pretty quick (although I think I left behind part of my packed lunch during the bag search) and tickets pretty much onl...

Re: 2024 tickets
A couple of us were travelling in one car on Saturday. This is no longer possible, so will one of us be able to park in the show without displaying a car pass? Thanks Wobs It may be worth emailing them and asking for another car park pass. I'd originally planned to use the shuttle bus on Sunday but...

Re: USA East Coast - A few from Pax River museum
Some really cool shots there, need to try and go there the next time I'm on the east coast! That X-32 looks in terrible shape compared to some of the older equipment. Not a particularly good looking plane to start with though.

Re: Ace or not?
There were a number of articles in February about a US Marine pilot being hailed as the first US Ace since Vietnam after shooting down drones, here is one: https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/red-sea-drone-attacks-create-first-american-ace-in-50-years/ I did think that it was interesting that while ...

Just passed east of Chippenham. Just the one, looks like the other one is still on the ground.

Re: USAF is "planning" to reactivate 20-25 Cold War era airbases in Europe (Rumour)
It kind of sounds like these bases aren't for permanent station, but perhaps more like RAF Fairford and used to deploy when needed? I also had the thought that it doesn't specify in what part of Europe these bases might be--are there unused or little used bases in eastern Europe that might be upgrad...

Re: mildenhall 1/09/2023
Great photo! Out of curiosity what happens in a situation like this? I assume the boom impacts on the runway on landing so the main danger is debris. I presume it is a component that can be replaced without a major overhaul?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: TrainRadar24
I work in the rail industry and I can tell you that these are pretty much the same as the systems we use. Although a lot of people actually prefer using realtime trains to our industry system as the user interface is simple and straightforward. The industry system (called TRUST) is based on a piece ...

I'll admit the weather on the day was a bit harsh but it did make for some amazing lighting for your photos. The dark grey sky really makes the colours pop!

Fantastic set of photos! #5 as it just lifts off the runway is really amazing, an excellent photo in what I'm sure were challenging lighting conditions.

Re: Types of enthusiasts
What's really amusing about a lot of these is that they really translate into all other enthusiasts--I work in public transport and come across all kinds--railway enthusiasts, bus enthusiasts, pylon enthusiasts (it is a thing, believe me) and can think of times I've seen most of these! I'd suggest a...

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Now that the B-52s have been confirmed that fulfils my wish list! Although I have to agree with some of the earlier posters, F-15s from USAFE would be brilliant! With the Skytanker theme I was hoping for a KC-10 but it sounds like they may have finished before the event? There are still 25 KC-10 in...

Re: Royal Navy Wants To Refit Its Carriers With Catapults, Arresting Wires
As others have stated this seems very much oriented towards UAV. With the new Electromagnetic catapults being used on the Ford class carriers it may be possible to retrofit this without tearing too much of the ship apart, but it'll still be a major refit. It is ambitious, I don't think I would hold ...
