Re: RIAT 2016 your views
Left home at 5.07 AM drove straight onto base through Green gate at 7.24 with only 2 cars in front of me, parked up and joined the que for searching. Walking round the static park by 7.50. Started walking back to carpark at 17.45 , got straight in car and drove through gate at 18.04, home at 20.43 a...

Re: Vulcan ..A very hard act to follow...BUT
All this talk of Comets and Victors, surely these large 4 engined jet aircraft fall into the same category as the Vulcan and thus would require support from BAe Systems and Rolls Royce etc not to mention zero houred engines, although there surely must be people currently capable of supporting / over...

Re: The Antiques Roadshow RAF Coningsby Tonight
I was going to visit Coningsby the day this was filmed but didn't because it was stated on signs, websites etc that the base would be closed with no flying activity, yet it appears that the visitors were treated to displays by the Dakota, Hurricane , Typhoon etc and what looked like normal operation...

Re: Cameron on NATO and Russia
Very well said Tim. I agree with you totally. I agree with you about the EU but also put a lot of the blame on Washington. The Soviets were actually promised that if they withdrew from Eastern Europe then there would be no NATO expansion eastwards. But not only did we take in former Warsaw Pact nat...

Re: BBC News - US squadrons 'may use UK carrier' for operati
The Harrier was a very capable aircraft but lets face it - It's time was almost up My bugbear is that the new carriers for the RN should have been C&T so that a) We could have had the less complex F35C with better range etc.... b) We could have operated AEW aircraft from the Carrier to give proper ...

Re: Cold War Tour 2014
Hi Guys, sorry for the lack of clarity, I watched the flypast/ display at Wittering and I 100% agree with you both I thought it was brilliant and very emotional , yes a fantastic idea that should be repeated if possible . I was very suprised not to read a barrage of anti TVOC comments from the unfor...

Re: Cold War Tour 2014
Having seen the pictures on the TVOC website it appears that XH558 took part in some sort of advertising campaign for a new model of Landrover which also explains the Press gathering and " lengthier display " at Gaydon. If this was the case does anyone know if this advertising fee ( if there was one...

Fantastic pictures of a greatly admired and amazing aircraft still immensely popular amongst enthusiasts and veterans alike as evident by the huge amount of books and websites dedicated to it, very highly rated for it's capabilities by all who flew it and those who wished too!

Re: Dave Say's Prince of Wales will be Commissioned
Well, with the airworthy Whirlwind, Foxy Lady, HSA's Buccaneer and the RNHF's SeaHawk ( when it's up and running again ) we could have a tiny little AirWing on it too - if only we could launch and recover them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seem to remember talk of an airworthy Gannet project somewhere - that'...

Re: Bournemouth Display.
I've watched the Shoreham display videos and I must say I was very , very impressed , Kev Rumens flew a fantastic , dynamic routine with plenty of noise , climbs , tight turns and wingovers, definitely the best so far since restoration it reminded me very much of a shortened version of the great dis...

Re: US 2015 Defence Proposal - U-2/A-10 Retirement
Well according to page 414 in the afore mentioned proposal documents it details several options with associated costings for Lakenheath , one being closing and all 3 fighter squadrons relocating to the continental US along with all units from Mildenhall and it remaining open, not home and dry yet. E...
