Re: KC-46A
More of the same. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see 46105 HEX AE63D5 doing rollers at Whiteman albeit from long distance. It all became clear when I set up to tog it on approach to Topeka Forbes a couple of days later and it turned out to be a Vance T38. It's because the dummies at ADSBexcha...

OK charlie, thanks for the detail. Based on that, it does seem likely that 797 was the pinger.

Re: Fri 25th march
Does anyone know which fighter departed at 1054. I asked in the other thread but no-one replied.
-
Did they depart singularly or in formation ? What was the one pinging BLDE05 which departed at 1054 exactly please?

Re: E7 Wedgetail order reduction
To pre-empt the inevitable question "why does it have windows?" - unlike the P-8s, the E-7s were not ordered in large enough numbers to get their own windowless barrel, so they were made based on the "YG" barrel spec which is the same one used for the BBJs and 737-700 Combis and then had the windows...

Re: E7 Wedgetail order reduction
First sightings of the one and only new build, LN 9103 N576JK 66840. Should test fly as BOE149 then fly to GED for aux tank installation, then to BHX for conversion work to begin.

Re: Bomber Task Force Dyess General Info
Not following the discussion but I don't see it mentioned above. HYPNO01 B1 may be enroute from KDYS ETA 0955Z EGVA. Known already? If it is airborne then it's due over DOGAL BEXET in about 1 hr. I can't confirm it's airborne so don't take this as fact - needs an eye peeled.

Re: RAF to scrap E-3 Sentry this year
The semantics are moot. Whether you call it maintenance or upgrades, the plane isn't operational with them , ergo BOTH should be budgeted for when deciding how many years you want them to last. As the Sentinel article clearly stated - they knew what upgrades would be needed and when, yet went ahead...

Re: RAF to scrap E-3 Sentry this year
The Sentinels got tossed on the scrap heap after only 14 years service because basically the government couldn't be arsed to maintain them. It's not really about maintaining them - it's about keeping the on-board electronics, sensors and communications suites up to date. For an ISTAR platfor...

Re: RAF to scrap E-3 Sentry this year
Why are our E3's so knackered? They are probably the newest E3 airframes in existence having only been in service since around 1990, the NATO ones have 10 years on ours and the USAF ones even longer and still going strong! Have we not been maintaining and upgrading them? The rate of deterioration s...
