Re: Crash gate 6 to close

I've heard the F-35 is to be cancelled due to Trump and the carriers themselves converted to VSTOL.

Final flight was confirmed as last Thursday by RAF PR, so I expect just parades today.

Canada and the F-35

Given the new 'Cold War' between the USA and Canada regarding tariffs, do you think Canada's buy of 88 F-35s is now at risk? If I were Canadian PM it would certainly be one of the retaliatory 'weapons' I would use. If I were a Eurofighter salesman I'd be on the phone to Justin now... Discuss.

Re: Potential RAF Typhoon Tranche 4 Order - 25 Aircraft

It's a well worn argument to justify buying smaller, more expensive fleets that modern jets have the capability of five older ones. However it can still only be in one place at any one time and if it breaks five jets are grounded!

Re: Potential RAF Typhoon Tranche 4 Order - 25 Aircraft

With just 108 jets supporting seven front-line squadrons, the Falklands, an OCU and OEU, something will have to give in the not too distant future. Either squadron disbandments or more F-35s. Tranche 4 is the obvious filler decision if the UK is serious about defence.

Typhoon ZK374

I'm doing some research on Typhoon production and have a nerdy question that someone on this forum may be able to answer. Tranche 3 Typhoon ZK374 has the production line number 444 but the RAF allocation BS135, which is out of sequence. As 443 was BS124, one would have expected 444 to be BS125, but ...

Re: Danish Air Show 2025 Uncertainty

European air forces are realising the cost of operating F-35 and slashing non-essential expenditure. Add that to the Green lobby and it's unlikely we'll see them return.

Re: Infrastructure Work plans for Brize Norton

Most of the work at Wittering is done. The runway has been resurfaced, new approach lights installed and the taxiways widened (the main reason the Harrier ski ramp was demolished).

I was there! No camera though and just a spotty 14 year old. Thanks to my late father who took me.
