Re: Mildenhall April 1st/2nd.

Excellent set, really making the most of this wonderful weather. Beautiful light on the RC-135.

I was annoyed to have missed the P-8.

'Quick Climb Friday*' in the lovely spring sunshine - Take 2

I apologise in advance for how image heavy this is going to be, and if the colours/processing are a bit off; I'm not using my usual software. I'll be back up and running in Photoshop when I get my new PC. Anyway, having seen the forecasts, I put in a holiday request first thing on Monday morning for...

Re: 'Quick Climb Friday' in the lovely spring sunshine

Thanks. Camera is an old EOS 7D but I upgraded to the 100-400 L MkII at the end of November. Only the second chance I’ve had to use it but so far, so good.

'Quick Climb Friday' in the lovely spring sunshine

That was the plan anyway! Took a day off as I've been waiting for the right combination of wind direction and sunshine to put my new lens through its paces, but cloud cover and not *that* much activity put paid to that plan. Will have to keep an eye on it and try again soon. So as not to waste the t...

Re: Bolar nose art 19-12-2024

Good pics, nice to see a few of the others that didn't fly on Friday. Hopefully they all keep it for a while.

I was told by someone the art is drawn with grease pencils.

RAF Lakenheath Friday 10th Jan

Booked a day off at short notice given the forecast, as I wanted to test my new lens. I upgraded from the 70-300 L to the 100-400 L MkII at the end of November but yet to give it a proper run out and I'm so thrilled with the images I got from it yesterday. Same old landing shots as usual as I wanted...

Thanks for all the comments and feedback, much appreciated. Dan, lovely to meet you too. I'll keep an eye on your Flickr to see the RC-135U shots I missed in the morning. A handful more from Thursday: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54098070063_5cd0160842_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.c...

RAF Mildenhall this week (photo heavy)

Two days out this week, using up some more of my unspent annual leave. Started off on Tuesday as the forecast was decent, with the aim of some ground shots of the RC-135U and hopefully some sunset shots at Lakenheath. Ended up at Mildenhall much sooner than planned as the NATO E-3 was heading across...

Three days, four bases

Had a few days off a couple of weeks ago for some spotting, starting and ending in Suffolk with Lincolnshire sandwiched in the middle. Lakenheath/Mildenhall Friday 13th

Had the day off on Friday for the Duxford arrivals but the wind looked 50/50 for runway 05 at Lakenheath, so decided to spend the morning in Suffolk before heading to Dux in the afternoon. Arrived nice and early for 'quick climb Friday' but hadn't realised they were on nights this week, so it was ab...

It’s probably been mentioned but I can’t find it. Is the F-16C and the two F-15QA’s visible, if so where is the best point to see them?
F-16 departed back to Aviano a short while ago, showing on ADSB over Belgium.

More Raptors

First time at Lakenheath in 18 months(!) for yesterday's F-22 arrivals. Sitting in the rain mid-afternoon I was beginning to question the decision to take the day off but it all came good in the end, for the first flight anyway. The second set arrived after sunset and I ran out of talent so they *al...
