Re: USAF C17 in LFA 17 6/5/25

Great set Richard  I was really surprised to see the two C-17A's 'pinging' on deck at Mildenhall as 'ELVIS 21/22' on Bank Holiday Monday. I'm just amazed that they hadn't taken the Bank Holiday into account when they were talking to Swanwick to get their clearances approved... still all was so...

VE Day flypast rehearsal - Cranwell 28-4-25

Posted just for the record as a rather limited content with more heavies at this rehearsal - the main event is advised as 23 aircraft which will include WW2 frames. Approaching the RAFC College building to simulate Buckingham Palace. Juno HT.1 HT.1 ZM4521 acted as the 'airborne control' Voyager KC3....

Re: Coningsby Exercise History

Hi Mike, got German RF-4E from Akg.51 for starters who brought 6 jets on exchange with 41 Sqd in April 1976. Have a real selection of F-104's and F-4F's from Germany, and F-104's from Canada, Italy and Denmark with some on base visits during squadron exchanges. Viggens, F-16's from Holland, got a fe...

Re: The last Viggens in service with F21 at Lulea, Sweden

Excellent set Michael of such an iconic jet  Had several trips through into Lulea in the 90's (usually a February) to do some truck testing in the forests... certainly a bit nippy! My first sighting of Aurora Borealis on our nightime approach into the airport ..stunning. During our tests I rem...

Re: Flying on a kitchen chair in a PhAF Tora Tora, April 1992

Well Peter, I think this is the most interesting post / article that I have ever seen and read. Background information brilliant, and the photography is just in a league of its own  The PhAF has certainly had their value from those frames, I guess pretty scarey from the pilots view on some d...

Re: Tomcat's in the UK

I thought the Iranian F-14s were grounded or became inop. when the ayatollahs took control. Roger There's recent footage around of an Iranian F-14 making an approach onto some island jn the Persian Gulf to display in static park at an international air fair. I think the business fair was for other ...

Re: Tomcat's in the UK

Remember that first shot of the VF-142 bird 159449 212/AE turning up at Greenham Common for IAT in 1976. My first Tomcat :Wow: It came direct from the ship with VF-143 159434 100/AE Got a very similar shot as we all 'hussled' for space on the approach  Great memory and thanks for posting best r...

Really miss Bentwaters. A day up the road to Wantisden Church always brought you close to the action. You bet, very close indeed. Re: RAF Scampton Relics

As the Home office plans for the asylum swamp were binned, I believe West Lindsay District Council is currently trying to figure out where the £300 million regeneration plan is at... Indeed Tim, hopefully the WLDC bid to buy back the airfield will be successful, and maybe HHA will get access or opt...

Looks like a fantastic day out, echo SLOGEN51 those day are few and far between. Great shots too. Both part 1 and Part 2 are a very enjoyable browse - wish I had gone to that event Great access in the hangar - wish the RAF would have more events like this so the public can get up close and see what...
