What about the RAfA air shows at PWk earlier. I considered them well organised and full of NATO and USAF participation. Not forgetting HHS GANNET support and participation.

A lot of wishful thinking but time will tell.Fairford has obvious attractions but many factors that are negative. Ask yourself after all these years why it has not remained major operational base?

Re: American Airforce Day - your thoughts?
Not a man of many words but this air show was the most disappointing I have attended both professionally and privately .What were the organiser thinking off even considering current safety concerns. They still should have introduced some excitement to a boring event. On a separate issue no breakfast a...

Re: Is Gannet staying open ?
It should be considered is there a requirement for a new anti sub Helicopter presence at PWK due to all UK sub assets being based on the Clyde in a few years .Plus the reported increased Russian sub activity in the area And the U.K. Having to rely on NATO for MPA.

Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020
Interesting summation Reach . On the other hand are there any indications at Mildenhall of changes/improvement to accommodate the replacement much larger tankers for example .I of course would like Mildenhall to remain open but just being a devils advocate with my comments.

Bassingbourn is still an active army base with adequate space to accommodate additional units plus more .I am sure the army families would be more than happy to move back to Cambs.

If a large number are ordered it would make sense in many respects to reactivity Kinloss the Army could easily be re based easily elseware with minimal effect on their capabilities.
