Apparently airframes at the above will be moved to other locations and future training carried out a private company in the Cotswolds.

Moreton-In-Marsh is a big private fire school in the Cotswolds at an ex RAF WW2 base.. maybe that's the new location?

Moreton In the Marsh is to be the new home in March (?)
There was a full feature on Forces TV on the 15th (Thursday).
Whilst the feature also said the old airframes would be rehoused, it never said where to.

I trained at RAF Catterick in the early 70's, lots of Pembroke, Canberra, Vulcan and Shackleton airframes used as fire trainers, Meteors dotted around the rough driver training routes, Hasting by the wet area and plenty of cockpits in the Fire School hangar and a Navy Buccaneer. Also trained at the Central (to what) Training Establishment at Manston many times, a vast variety of airframes, Argosy, Devon, Phantom, Harrier etc. for training on and finally burning before they went green and a multi-sim used.

Sad days.

I spent 4 months there on a detachment in 2006. It was definitely one of the friendliest places I served at during my RAF career.
