Draken L-159 ALCAs - Teesside Airport
Draken Europe has announced its intention to base L-159s at Teesside Airport alongside the Falcon 20s. Obviously these are all ex-Czech Air Force and will presumably be used on UK defence contracts.

Details of the 3-year interim competition are at the link below. Hopefully the UK's NGOT programme will deliver something more threat representative for 2025/26 onwards!

Re: Draken L-159 ALCAs - Teesside Airport
Good Evening
Would anyone please have any indication of when the next ones are due for delivery ?
Not sure if they are needing or intend to field all eight a/c in time for start of contract on July 1st.
Thanks and regards,
Paul

Re: Draken L-159 ALCAs - Teesside Airport
One report says 4 aircraft and another says 8 so we will have to wait and see what transpires. At least we get reasonable warning that they are in transit.Evergreen 44 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 6:55 pmGood Evening

Re: Draken L-159 ALCAs - Teesside Airport
Statement taken from Draken Europe's Facebook Page:
"We are delighted to announce that Draken Europe’s #RedAir fleet of L-159E “Honey Badger” jets is now firmly established alongside our #Falcon20 aircraft at our Teesside base.
Our L-159E fleet, our experienced fast jet pilots and dedicated ground crew will shortly begin operational delivery of the Royal Air Force (RAF)'s Interim Red Air Aggressor Training Service (IRAATS) – the UK MOD’s first-ever privately contracted agile aggressor training service. The service represents a significant training capability upgrade that will increase the quality of operational training through improving the currency, capability and survivability of the RAF's Lightning and Typhoon fighter pilots. It will play a critical part in sustaining the UK’s Combat Air capability in a period of increased international instability.
The arrival of these Czech-built Aero Vodochody Aerospace L-159E aircraft represents the culmination of many months of dedication and energy across our whole business. In the days ahead, the fleet will grow further as more of these fantastic agile jets cross the Atlantic from our colleagues in the US. Their support and the backing of a raft of industry and government partners has been central to the realisation of this endeavour.
We frequently say that we’re proud of the critical role Draken plays at the heart of the UK’s national defence, but that is especially the case right now. Bringing the L-159E jets across from the US to the UK has seen us invest in the construction of substantial new facilities at Teesside International Airport, the ongoing recruitment of new fast-jet pilots, ground crew and operational staff. Our team have undertaken months of planning and liaison with the aircrafts’ manufacturer Aero Vodochody Aerospace and with industry partners and regulatory authorities. Throughout, all of this has been conducted with the unstinting support of local government, the RAF and the UK MOD.
We can’t wait to update you as we embark on delivery of this exciting new Red Air training service!"
