FSX performance??

Post by EGDR » Fri Oct 25, 2013 11:51 pm

Hi all! I have been having a massive amount of fun on FS2004 since the day I got it and I am now looking to upgrade to FSX. I have heard that it can be dodgy to run and I want to know whether my computer will run it reasonably well?

I have a 2.5ghz i5 processor and an integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics card. I have 6.00GB of RAM

Any help appreciated :)

Might struggle with the lack of graphics card, but should run reasonably well with the settings turned down.

Would it run well enough for a smooth frame rate?

With all the settings turned down it should run ok, but I'd look at investing in a new Graphics Card though to get the most out of it.

Just as a comparison to your computer here's what I'm currently running and depending on scenery etc I can average around 15fps!

AMD Athlon 64 X2 fx5200 (2.7GHz), 4GB DDR2, MSI HD6450 2GB

Overclock the CPU, it'll give you more fps than a new GPU will.

Over clocking isn't really an option, I'm playing on a laptop which is mostly mine but is used by my Dad as a Karaoke machine for his disco. Can anyone reccomend maybe a cheapish graphics card that will run FSX on good settings?

If you're on a laptop, how do you plan on upgrading the graphics card? :S

 forgot about that!

I think I will get it and use it on low settings on the laptop. I am looking to get my own desktop in 1-2 years so I will probably look to get it running properly on that. Thanks of tall the help, much appreciated

If you're happy with fs9 and it runs nice on your system, why change?

I will still use FS9 but FSX has a few features that I want for a few of my flights like moving jetways etc. It also has a few add ons which I simply can't find in the same quality on FS9

The thing is, you may not find the quality of stuff for fs9 that you can for FSX, but if you move to FSX with a low end system, you simply won't get that quality anyway ;)

Not just model quality, the way it handles is important. Like I said I will still be running FS9
