Is FSX the final offering from MS?

Post by turbosix » Mon Oct 26, 2009 8:27 pm

I've read in a number of places that the majority of the development team have been laid off, leading to suspension/termination in development of both Flight Simulator and Train Simulator. It seems that Microsoft's contribution to the gaming world is being focussed on Xbox. Therefore if the FS team did ever decide to release updates or new games it would be under a different brand name.

As a long time fan of MSFS I think it's a shame that the final version of their acclaimed software was such a let down. For me FS2004 was far better. At least you could get a decent frame rate without sacraficing graphics quality. I was so hoping that in FS11 they would have addressed speed issues but I guess it will never be now.

I read something a while back that some of the old ACES team have got together to set up a new company and are already working on a new sim demo. Don't remember anything else but for now it seems that MSFS FSX is the last sim from MS at least.
