Best flight simulator?
Thought i might have a look at getting a flight simulator on my computer. Just a bit confused as to what which one to get. I prefer military sort of stuff with air to air combat and stuff. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Re: Best flight simulator?
DCS. Period. You wont regret it.
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/
The base sim is free, and you get a couple flyable's with it.
Other add-ons cost, but are fantastically modelled. Just downloaded the new map, Persian Gulf.
Various developers have quality offerings, and some in the pipeline include the F-4E from Belsimtek, the F/A-18 from the same is due out end of this month also.
There is an F-14 due hopefully later this year, with AI backseater (if playing alone), or you can have a live backseater.
If rotary wing is your thing, there is Gazelle and Huey, and the venerable MI-8, which is a standard setter.
You can even go to yester-year, with exceptional renditions of Spitfire, Mustang, or from the Korean era, MiG-15 and Sabre.
Some flyables -

Re: Best flight simulator?
DCS is a great sim as said above but needs a fairly powerful PC to play it, but it is free with a Su-25 and a TF-51 to plod around in! The F/A-18 comes out today and it is fantastic.
Falcon 4.0 is another great sim with the BMS 4.33 mod you are looking at the best war sim out there as it has a dynamic campaign and multiple theaters. The buy in cost is low as for 6 quid you have a all the major F-16 blocks modeled to a high degree of accuracy.
My personal favorite though is Il-2 Great Battles Series, warbirds galore and the best multiplayer out there, it also has scripted and dynamic campaigns.
If you need any help on specifics I will try and do what I can, flight simming is an awful lot of fun and there is a great community ready to help.

Re: Best flight simulator?
Money no object? Try some like these -
https://virpil.com/en/shop
or maybe . . .
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/logitech ... 65-sk.html
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/logitech ... 43-sk.html
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/thrustma ... 32-th.html
As long as your stick has at least a twist base (rudder control) and throttles, you can get by, but the more buttons and toggle switches the better.

Re: Best flight simulator?
Many thanks for those suggestions Gary & thanks for saying about DCS, I am downloading it as I type this
I do have a wireless joystick that I used a few years ago but having trouble getting it to work with my new PC though. I will keep trying, if not I will invest in 1 of your suggestions
Cheers

Re: Best flight simulator?
If you do select one, or any stick for that matter, have a good search online for the best prices, sometimes the price difference for exactly the same thing can be eye-watering!
Happy hunting.
