Threshold Aero now offering aviation tours, looks pretty good and reasonable too:

Turkey Konya - Anatolian Eagle 17-21 June 2020

This is a four night, five day tour to Konya in Turkey to coincide with the Anatolian Eagle exercise meet held at Konya Airbase. The Turkish Air Force are holding two spotters days at the base on 18th and 19th June. This tour will take in both of these days, with an extra day at the end to check out the historic city of Konya followed by a late afternoon/evening BBQ and drinks to be held at the Turkish Stars Park near the base.

In addition, you will need to submit your request to join the event as a matter of urgency to the Turkish Embassy. This must be done no later than 30th March. Full information on the procedure will be sent upon confirmation that you wish to attend the Threshold Tour.

Please note that all costs are based upon certain numbers of people attending to ensure group booking rates and failure to reach those numbers may cause cost changes and/or trip cancellation. Whilst we would prefer to avoid cancellation, it is a possibility if we do not receive significant interest as it may make it unviable cost wise.

Itinerary:
17th June
Depart London Heathrow Terminal 2 to fly to Konya, via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. On arrival we will be collected by transfer minibus to our downtown hotel.

18th June
Spotters Day 1
We will take our private transfer to Konya Airbase for Spotters Day at Anatolian Eagle. Hopefully the same outline as previous years will be used, this will enable us to photograph the action from a number of locations through the day. After the memory cards are full, we will meet our private transfer back to hotel.

19th June
Spotters Day 2
More of the same.

20th June
Morning of leisure to explore the ancient city of Konya. Perhaps visit the museums and discover more about Konya’s history, taking in a Turkish Coffee and local delicacies such as etli ekmek, a Turkish flatbread served in a pizza style.

In the afternoon, we will head out in our private coach up to the Turkish Stars Park to take photos of the monuments and aircraft. Whilst not yet confirmed, we are hoping to take advantage of the open air barbecue facilities with like-minded enthusiasts from the local Bosphorus Spotting Group. There will be no additional cost for this barbecue, as it will be provided by Threshold.

21st June
A lazy morning, editing photos and debriefing over coffee. Private Transfer to Konya Airport for our return flight home with Turkish Airlines to London Heathrow.
