Update 22/12/2009:

South Atlantic - The Early Years

Shortly after GAR published Gareth Stringer's feature on Typhoon's arrival in the Falklands we received an email from one Andy Matheson who, it turned out, had worked on the construction of Mount Pleasant Airfield. Andy subsequently sent GAR some images of his time in the South Atlantic and we quickly realised that they were more than worthy of a wider-audience, asking Andy if he would like to contribute some words to go with them. This feature is the result. Words and images courtesy of Andy Matheson.

Japan is one of the last remaining operators of the venerable F-4 Phantom II, with the airfield at Hyakuri housing the greatest concentration and variety of the type. Paul Dunn travelled east to visit this famous airfield.

Air Atlantique Classic Flight Evening Photoshoot

Despite concerns over the future, brought on by the sudden closure of Coventry Airport, the Air Atlantique Classic Flight once again opened their hangar doors for their second evening photoshoot, with a variety of aircraft being displayed under the lights. Paul Dunn reports for GAR, photos as credited.

blogGAR Updates
Since last week's update Gareth Stringer and Paul Dunn have added new content.

Between Boxing Day and New Year we intend to roll out a series of blogGAR entries looking back at GAR's first calendar year from each staff member's personal perspective. Accompanying each piece will be the chance for you to win one of Planes TV's 2009 Airshow DVDs.

Please be aware that blogGAR will be updated whenever someone has something new to share, so please keep checking back regularly.

On behalf of all the staff at GAR we'd like to wish our readers a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010.
