Wanted - Air Tattoo Programmes

Post by skyking_comms » Sun Jul 13, 2025 9:13 pm

I have come into the possession of these items produced to promote the air tattoo.
I believe they were sent out to the press and sponsors in advance of the show providing information on what was planned that particular year.

It's interesting to see the cover designs by Wilf Hardy are different than those used for the official air show programme of the same year.

I'm told that there are others produced for other years. Does anyone have any which I can purchase for my own collection?

Eventually I will create a page for these promotional items on my RAF Fairford history website https://www.raf-fairford.co.uk/

Thanks

The Phantom artwork was originally designed as the programme artwork for IAT 83 but was changed fairly close to the show following the death of Sir Douglas Bader.
I've not got any other promotional bits in my collection that I can think of with different artwork, but am aware there is another Wilf Hardy designed poster for IAT 85 at Fairford.

It's such a shame the artwork nowadays is so boring in comparison to these!

Thanks Timmo - The 1983 Phantom artwork is one of my favourites produced by Wilf Hardy. I will keep a look out for the alternative 1985 IAT poster design as I can't say I've seen it

I'll either post an image of the poster on here or email it to your website address when I get a chance.
