Re: HHA Fleet
In a similar vein, does anyone know where the HHA fleet are likely to relocate following the closure of RAF Scampton?
Re: HHA Fleet
Popped up to Scampton today, the Buccaneer, F4 and Sukhoi were all parked out and viewable from the 04 end. All had covers on over the Cockpits. They were parked on the HHA apron (near point g on thunder and lightning guide).

Yep,
Reported elsewhere as ZZ191 out on an air test after maintenance.
Also seen that HHA have acquired a new hunter twin seater.

Rare Hawker Hunter from Brazil arrives in the United Kingdom
Hawker Hunter Aviation Ltd. (HHA) at RAF Scampton has come into possession of former Embraer flight-test chase plane Hunter T72 PP-XHH.
Although the newcomer has not officially been announced by the HHA, the dual seat Hunter was noted in one of the hangars at Scampton on 4 September 2018.
Founded in 2000 and based at Scampton, HHA jets are flown & maintained by former Royal Air Force, Royal Navy & Test Pilot personnel familiar with both trials management and the latest NATO training, systems and operational requirements.
Still wearing civil colours, hopefully the former Chilean Air Force (and Embraer) Hunter will receive a smart livery and a semi military serial like the HHA's two airworthy examples ZZ190 and ZZ191.

Re: HHA Fleet
How often do the Hunters fly? Do they deploy to Europe much for DACT?

Re: HHA Fleet
It was dismantled (wings and fin separated) when we went around late last year, don't know how quickly they were planning on getting it back into one piece?

Re: HHA Fleet
The T.72 won't emerge from the hangar as PP-XHH it will be in it's new guise as a current military registered Hunter when it eventually does. The Hunters fly once or twice a month at current for currency requirements and do not currently deploy to Europe for DACT purposes.
Re: HHA Fleet
PP-XHH noted outside pm wearing military serial XE688...believe a part of this frame was used in it's conversion to a twin stick many years ago so it would appear to have taken up this identity.

Re: HHA Fleet
Just curious. How active is Scampton with the Reds being overseas? Do the Hunters from HHA fly regularly (are they involved with Cobra Warrior in any way?)?

Re: HHA Fleet
Scampton is notamed closed 3rd to 16th September.
There has been the odd Cranwell visitor in the past few weeks, but that about all.

Re: HHA Fleet
According to my database and UK Serials it was XE704 that became PP-XHH (via J-736 with the Chilean Air Force).
Re: HHA Fleet
That is correct but the centre section of XE688 was used in it's rebuild prior to it's conversion into a twin seat, anyway that was painted on the aircraft on Thursday so looks like it will be flying soon.
