2022 Training

Post by reaper493 » Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:50 am

1st day of 2022 training today by the sounds of it.

Red 1 and Red 8 both up, looks like Red 8 is staying the same as the past 2 years.

Red 6 is up and off to Cranwell, this is the new Red 6 - last years 7.

Not seen any announcements of who the 2 new pilots are?

Excellent news Mike. That fits into the Plan, 13th consecutive year of training watching. Vehicle MOT today, off to Scampton for RAFATeering tomorrow
FYI. I came across a comment on the MOD w/site that Scampton airspace will continue as the practice area following the move to Waddington. How current that info I don’t know.

Yes the airspace will remain for a bit, but depending on what happens with housing or this new historic thing ( https://thelincolnite.co.uk/2021/11/cou ... ure-plans/ ) thats been pitched they will have to find somewhere else.

I believe they will use Donna Nook and Syerston, plus a new R313 will be set up further south that will also include the danger area's for the drones.

Red 7 and Enid (1/2/3) have been up so far this morning.

Last Friday saw a five ship from Doncaster 02 end, doing figure eights at around 15:00 ish. They seemed to be over Sturgate. There was a time when a previous company bird scarer would have conversations through the wire at intermissions ! Regular hardy winter watchers would reap the benefit of knowing about alternate display locations. The present lot never ever stop and chew any fat. Donna Nook will be cold :'( Will the farmer welcome us like the paying seal watchers
As I have said before, Scampton Airfield is heavily polluted by diesel which will be an expensive environmental problem to build houses on !
Cheers

I think it's early next year, or end of this.

I believe they have another tour somewhere after this years display season, and then they are at Waddo on return.

They are also rumours going round that when 100sqd disband, they will get an additional 5 Hawks and will do conversion and refresher courses them selves, something that 100sqd currently does.

311 was Red 9, 295 was Red 10 on an airtest with Red 4 in the back.

Enid went up twice and Gypo once today I think.

Due to personal, family circumstances, Red 8, Flight Lieutenant Damo Green, is leaving the #RedArrows. To maintain our nine-ship formation, Squadron Leader Jon Bond is returning for the 2022 display season – his fifth year with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team. We wish Flt Lt Green well for the future and welcome back Sqn Ldr Bond, whose career you can read more about here: https://www.raf.mod.uk/display-teams/re ... -jon-bond/

Damo Green was a speaker at the Lincolnshire Airspace Users Group meeting at Cranwell yesterday (3/3/22) He is working on the airspace requirements for the RAFAT post Scampton in April 2023.

Did he happen to share the possible solutions with you all?

I've seen them - and there are many! Some make sense, some don't, some will give me great views of them practicing if chosen.
