Why " Donna " in the name?

Post by C24 » Fri Apr 22, 2016 6:46 am

Apparently after the wreck of one of the Spanish ship driven ashore during the storm that helped saved England from the " Evil " threat of invaders. :'(
There was a vessel named ” Donna ” in the Spanish fleet. It was part of the Escuadra , or Squadron lead by Juan Andrea Doria.

Doncella was a vessel in the same Squadron.

Wikki:
"The name is popularly supposed to be that of a ship called The Donna, part of the Spanish Armada, which sank off the Nook (a small headland) in 1588".
