Not been up to Brora, Dornoch or Tain for Years but when the Tornados were about the roofs of the Hotel Apartments used to rattle with them going over so low so I'm wondering the same thing how low does a Typhoon fly when on the Tain Range, same as Tornados or Buccaneers before them?

I'd imagine they will if doing live cannon strafe runs at Tain. Otherwise, they may well do other electronic target practice from higher level than Tornado did. With the targeting kit on Typhoon, much can probably be done from a 'standoff' position rather than dropping to low level. Don't think the Typhoon is particularly comfortable at low level in any case, as it was never designed to operate down in the weeds, unlike Tornado which was designed to do just that - hence the big tail fin.

A couple of weeks ago I made for me a rare visit to Holbeach. I was parked near to the tower ( actually next to the vehicle with the ground control - callsign Trojan- it was interesting hearing them call in the Tornados (Monster) and Typhoons (Chaos) - I didn't need a radio!

But the flying was quite underwhelming - the attacks were all simulated with the tornado doing gunnery from about 3000 feet and the Typhoons were sometimes at 15000 feet!!

Very tricky for photos - what happened to the upside down jags?

Only trouble now with the AS weapons the Typhoon uses. A lot of standoff and medium altitude drops for the laser/GOS guided muntions. Only time imagine they would go lower, is for gun run I think or a show of force.

Last time i was up to Tain (2013), the only time Typhoons came low was for a show of force. Spent most of their range time at height. Listening to them when they use Tain, it's usually targeting pod stuff at height and occasionally dropping down for dry gun passes, so you may get lucky but it all depends what they're doing.

Will be interesting to hear and see how low the F-35s are when they get started at ranges like Tain? Could never imagine a Typhoon low for a Range for some reason doesn't seem like that sort of Aircraft.

To be fair to the typhoon - I think Coningsby is flying as Zodiac 51 and chaos 11 have been up this afternoon playing with G-FRAS
