This afternoon a number of flights that originated from Warton, were advised that there was a TDA Temporary Danger Area
(TDA) at Spadeadam up to 6000 feet in height and within 2 Nautical Miles, anybody aware of the reason?

I remember seeing somewhere that they use the area for testing or experimenting with explosives from time to time - perhaps something like this was happening yesterday? If anyone was there I guess they would have seen or heard it if it were this.

Not sure what was the reason for this, but as noted there is occasional explosive / gas vapour testing on-site which sometimes provides interesting sound and light effects, such as the blast testing for Blitz Street! I'm not sure if there is any advance localised notifcation of blasting times although at Wiley Sike the sound of distant sirens will sometimes give a little notice!

Thanks for the link, would you believe I have The RAF Spadeadam 2010 Calendar which chronicles a few explosive
events, but I completely forgot about Gas venting being the reason for the TDA.
