When I had a base visit in July, 2014 R8 had been completed, it can handle up to 8 Chinooks hot refuelling with the Oshkosh Tankers, there was talk that R 8 would be utilised on Helicopter Exercises1.

Wildcat Vagabond pair were using the range this afternoon for mix of threat environment testing, EW, Smokey Sam and a dazzle light(?). They are not using the gorge at the moment and I would be rather pleasantly surprised if they did next week. Photos will be posted in due course. One of the better days weatherwise at Spade including the Wildcats in something called sunshine!

Chinook then faced multiple threats for at least 2 hours before recovering through the gorge! Nice end to the day :-)
