What a great year...

Post by SteveS » Sat Jan 16, 2010 4:10 pm

Just a quick note to thank everyone for their entries over the last 12 months and for continuing to enter month by month.

We were not sure when we introduced the Specialist Competition at the start of the year how it would go down, but it's been a massive success to date.

In addition, we've had some excellent prizes such as the signed Hawk and Typhoon prints from Squadron Prints and the base visit for the 216 Squadron competition. We're looking at more and more options for prizes for the Specialist Competition in the coming year as well as trying to narrow down some more categories for 2010. What ideas do you guys have, do you have any themes or ideas you'd like to see for the Spec Comp? I can't guarantee we'll use them, but we'll certainly discuss them. Any ideas or comments, please post on this thread.

There's a lot of work involved in the running the Photo Comps, but the fact that so many members post their entries is very encouraging for us, so please continue to do so in the year ahead.

Finally, a quick note of thanks to our sponsors at Squadron Prints who very generously provide the prizes for the Main Competitions and some of the themed Specialist Comps. Their contribution certainly makes the Photo Comps a very worthwhile and popular feature on FC. Thanks too to the members of staff who've put their hand in pocket to donate prizes.

Many thanks
Steve

i think a fitting specialist comp theme could be of the herk, as i think this gives a wide scope with loads of operaters and a long history,
could produce some interesting entries?

Maybe picking a certain squadron to be the subject? No matter what aircraft, just the squadron in focus?

Hi, I'm very new to photography but I do enjoy posting pics that are relivent to the competitions, but some months I just don't have any material. However I do enjoy just looking at the entries.

Have you considered any of the following, Jaguars, Buccaneers, Flypasses, Formations, Vintage aircraft, RNAS, Helicoptors,"Speed", Hedge hoping or maybe Out and about. these are just some ideas.

Also would it ever be considerred to have entries from Beginners (like me who are learning) Intermediates (who have a very good idea on what they are doing)and Advance (either Professional or semi Professional) it would mirror the entries that are beiong posted on the "Model making" section.

I for one enjoy all the pictures that get posted in these competitions and would like to say a big thank you for those who are involved in making this site enjoyable and a pleasure to belong to.
