Albeit a day late, an album of images of ‘VX770 and friends’ at Farnborough has just been added to the museum website gallery – these pictures are from the Neville Franklin Collection in the Newark Air Museum Archive – enjoy!

During the last 48 hours a couple of updates have been added to the news page on the NAM website – one has details about a guided walk around parts of the former airfield and the other relates to a small presentation that is connected to a 76 Squadron Halifax crew.

A quick ‘heads-up’ for this coming weekend – visitors beware of possible extra traffic for the Truckfest event on the Showground; but any extra effort made in getting to site should be rewarded by having the opportunity to see the talents of the Midland Region Meeting of the Guild of Aviation Artists being practiced around the site.

Anyone interested in Harley Davidsons as well as aircraft may be interested to know that the ‘Lindum Colonia Chapter’ will be arriving at the museum in the early afternoon of Saturday 22nd September 2012, for a photo shoot in front of the Vulcan.

Not sure whether there’s any aviation radio / avionics buffs about these parts that might be attending the Lincoln Short Wave Club Hamfest 2012 event, which is on the Newark Showground on 28th & 29th September – but if you are please make sure that you leave enough time to visit NAM!

A new album of photographs has been added to the Museum Gallery, entitled Restoration & Behind The Scenes – this features a number of museum ‘projects’ and will be added to as and when fresh images are available.

As it's Christmas I hope this post will be OK - earlier today the Rallye came out of its repaint and went back onto display; a news item has been added in here and some photos have been added to the Restoration & Behind The Scenes album!

A quick reminder about NAM’s Christmas opening times:

“As per normal the museum closes at 4pm on Sunday, December 23 BUT reopens again at 10am on Thursday, December 27. All other days we’ll be open from 10am until 4pm, with last admissions at 3pm.

Before Christmas we hope that some of you might call in for those last minute presents, whilst after Christmas you’ll be desperate to spend that money you’ve been given. Don’t forget that we’ll also be closed on January 1, but open again on Wednesday January 2.”

The post-Christmas holiday period has seen a good level of visitors attending the museum – despite the poor weather forecasts – we’re open on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st December; but closed on Tuesday 1st January; before re-opening again on Wednesday 2nd January 2013.

For the modellers out there the end of year stock take has seen a few model gems returned to the display walls in the museum shop – so if you’ve still got some Christmas money to spend you know where we are!
