Puma to join our collection

Post by NAM Updater » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:26 am

Yesterday we received confirmation that we have been successful in securing an ‘incomplete’ Puma helicopter for our collection here in eastern Nottinghamshire. Potential arrival date, time etc. still to be confirmed, but it could be quite quick.

Further details can be found in here!

That'll be something to nightshoot, eh...

I don't have the paperwork to hand I'm afraid but ZE449 does not ring a bell - I'm pretty certain that an older reg was being talked about last week! :S

As for a NAM Night Shoot - all in abeyance while we get the new café/toilet facility installed. Constantly discussed and decision put off until we feel that we can offer something fresh. The most recent chat has been about revisiting something with a 'refreshed' Viggen! :ninja: #NAMwatchThisSpace

Ah, the middle one is XW208, thought I'd changed the image title!

We should have a chat about a nightshoot at some point :)

EGVP – XW208 sounds more familiar, but I still need to see the paperwork again to confirm that is correct.

Happy to chat about night shoots; however based on the policies that we have in place it is most likely that any event would still be organised in-house by the museum staff/volunteers and have restricted numbers.

Vulcanone – thank you for your comment.

Puma XW208 arrived today from Cranwell; a few photos can be found in here and also in this gallery!

Now the real challenge begins!

Day capped off by a brilliant Dakota flypast in memory of the late Roy Hill, from nearby Girton and a former 1661 HCU student at RAF Winthorpe – Blue Skies Roy!!

If the feedback and offers of potential assistance are anything to go by it's going to be a great addition to the collection; thanks to the volunteers it's been secured and made waterproof today and the part search continues.

Today has seen a great boost for the Puma XW208 rebuild project at the museum – tail boom delivered for the project.

A big thank you goes out to the team at East Midlands Aeropark for helping to make this happen – thank you all!

The project is making good steady progress, albeit slightly under the radar for much of the time – continues to receive excellent support from the RAF & the wider helicopter community!

Thank you to them as well, you know who you are!!
