Newark Air Museum News 2019
As with previous years I thought I’d create a new Newark Air Museum News thread to use for short updates and news snippets from eastern Nottinghamshire.
As the year progresses I will provide updated details of museum activities in here!
This could include such things as the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Table Top Sale – 13 April 2019; etc., other event news, new arrivals etc. which can also be found in here!
Many thanks to those people who have visited the museum in 2018 and we hope to see you again this year and a Happy New Year to you all.
Whilst the museum has been closed today (1 January) we’re back open at 10am tomorrow, Wednesday 2 January 2019.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2019
If anyone is planning to visit the museum this weekend you’d best approach from the A17 direction as the Carole Nash Classic Bike Winter Show is being held on the Showground; the usual access advice applies!
Also be aware that from next week, for about six months there is a rolling set of overnight road works that will be in place around the Newark bypass & the A1/A46/A17 roundabout complex; typically these could be in place between 8pm and 5.30am!

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2019
Sad to have to report the theft of several items of avionics from Canberra T17 cockpit WH863 that’s currently on loan to the museum – further details can be found in this weblink: http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/Theft_from_Canberra_T17
We hope that the wider aviation community will help us track down these stolen items.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2019
A quick heads-up that work will commence tomorrow, Wednesday 28the August, to dismantle the MiG-23 & MiG-27 aircraft ready for their temporary departure from the museum.
Both aircraft are on long-term loan at Newark and the owner has requested their temporary return, we anticipate they will be off site for all of September!

The museum has agreed a discounted admission offer that will run throughout September. This has arisen after some discussions this last weekend with aviation enthusiasts and visiting personnel who are participating in Exercise Cobra Warrior.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2019
I thought that it might be worthwhile sharing the following information from the museum website about Christmas Opening 2019
"Check out when we’re open & when we’re closed this holiday time …
First of all we would like to send out a big Happy Christmas message on behalf of all the volunteers, staff and trustees to all those people who have supported us throughout 2019; whether you are visitors, shoppers or event participants many thanks for your custom, good will and kind comments. It really is appreciated!
As per normal the museum closes at 4pm on Monday, December 23 BUT reopens again at 10am on Friday, December 27. All other days during the post-Christmas holiday period we’ll be open from 10am until 4pm, with last admissions to the museum at 3pm; last museum shop admission 3.40pm. Don’t forget that there’s lots to see inside so don’t let any poor weather forecasts stop you from visiting.
Before Christmas we hope that some of you might call in for those last minute presents, whilst after Christmas you’ll be desperate to spend that money you’ve been given. Don’t forget that we’ll also be closed on Wednesday, January 1, but open again on Thursday, January 2.
Some good news for the early part of 2020 we will be holding our ticket prices at their current rate.
As ever for those of you who can consider the Gift Aided admission, please do so as it makes a huge impact on our income from the tax that we are able to claim back from HMRC.
During the period after Christmas the café will be operating as normal and is an ideal stop off point to warm up and recharge the fuel tanks before continuing to look around the museum.
Christmas Shoppers Beware
If by any chance the weather turns wintery and there are no visitors in the museum after 3pm, the museum may close early to allow the staff to get home during daylight. So as not to be disappointed by the museum being closed, please don’t leave your shopping trip until late afternoon!"
Season's greetings to you all!
