Newark Air Museum News 2020
As with previous years I thought I’d create a new Newark Air Museum News thread to use for short updates and news snippets from eastern Nottinghamshire.
As the year progresses other news items and updated details of museum activities can also be found in here!
This could include such things as the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Table Top Sale – 4 April 2020; etc., other event news, etc. which can also be found in here!
Many thanks to those people who have visited the museum in 2019 and we hope to see you again this year and a Happy New Year to you all.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
We hope that you will indulge a brief hop across to the 'dark-side'! Earlier in the week we became aware of 2 fascinating Pathe News clips featuring Taylor Monoplane G-APRT that is displayed in Hangar 1. They really highlight the ‘homebuilt’ aircraft description!

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Pleased to report as follows: "We have re-opened as planned today, Monday 10th February; a tether came out on the Rallye and moved it slightly, but nothing damaged; plus a couple of barrows changed formation - otherwise all OK!"
Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Glad to here all is well and I look forward to seeing the new formation by the Red Barrows on my next visit.
All the best regards to all at NAM.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Thanks for the feedback & thoughts!
To be honest it was one of the Saab Barrows that went for a wander - my Safir barrow to be precise; possible minor structural repair required!
Rallye OK as well!

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
So the Safir barrow ... may now become a BDRT frame... for those that remember these dotted around the airfields in the 80s.
Joking aside... glad all staff... structures and exhibits at NAM are safe and well.
See you all soon.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Great visit down the the museum today despite the wet weather. First time visiting the collection but I will be back without a doubt.
One a side note, I was very impressed with the gift shop and the model kits. A great range of kits rather than the typical same 5 airfix starter sets you usually see. Reasonably priced as well!
Thanks

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Thank you for the feedback, which I will share with my colleagues at the museum who did well to get the site open this weekend; I tried to do my bit on Saturday but it was getting quite windy when we closed at 4pm.
It's also nice to get feedback about the shop, which has developed a strong reputation over many years. Like many other traditional retail outlets it has a lot of competition from online sales, but it continues to fight its corner and will continue to do so while ever it attracts a sustainable number of customers - long may it continue!

An update has been added to the museum website about our opening status!
http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/Opening_Status
We are open at present, but for now we have made changes to our open cockpits offer – however as the wider situation develops we will implement changes to reflect any advice of health authorities & Government bodies.

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020
Following the receipt of the latest DCMS Briefing the museum trustees have taken the inevitable decision to close the site to visitors until further notice; effective from 4pm tonight!
