It’s so nice to be able to advise that the museum has just uploaded the first Cockpit-Fest 2021 participation list to the website – we finally seem to be making some progress rather than desperately trying to keep afloat!

Evening T1,

We're running a bit behind with regards to the preparations for reopening - socially distanced meetings due quite soon to sort out the initial reopening on 16th April for external exhibits only.

As a consequence I’m struggling to get round to the Aeroboots yet; and I’m still not sure when this will happen, but basically anyone who was booked at the last cancelled
event will get first chance at the spaces at the July Sale; the Cockpit-Fest & Aeroboot in August is way off the radar for me at present!

Thanks for the feedback, we're currently finalising the plan to get working museum members back onto site to get things ready for the 16th April opening, which is our top priority at present; other arrangements will follow!

Re-booking details have just been emailed out for the Outdoor Aeroboot/Aerojumble on Sat 3rd July, initially this is just to those sellers that had spaces booked at our cancelled sale in 2020 – other opportunities will be advised after 18.04.21

Will the Air Cadet Vigilant ZJ963/SL, currently stored at RAF Syerston for museum use, end up at the Newark Air Museum? It would be great to see it displayed in 2021 for the 80th Anniversary of the Air Training Corps. Covid permitting.

rgml - not aware of any active pursuit for anything at Syerston. Lots of chatter regarding the likely fate of various gliders etc., but long gone are the days of using local contacts. That said it's not been totally quiet during lockdown 3!

This morning we held a brief socially distanced site meeting to explore the possibility of expanding the number of spaces that will be available for the Outdoor Aeroboot/Aerojumble on Sat 3rd July 2021.

This has been made possible as there will be no visiting cockpit displays as would normally be on site for this sale; further details will follow once the options have been evaluated.
