Lynx's on the dump

Post by EGLL_EGGW-Spotter » Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:51 am

Could anyone help with the serials of the 8 Army Lynx's and the Gazelle? that are stored or dumped outside
along the A343 just after the museum when heading towards Andover.

Hi Glenn,

Demobbed lists 10 Lynx's (9 of which are listed as dumped - the other in special marks)- that might be a good starting point if you can narrow them down from there ? Shows them as MPSU ...
It also shows more than 1 Gazelle :(

Beware that although the Eurodemobbed site is useful it is only as recent as the last report, quite honestly the best thing is to walk the fence.

Easy to ID too. Park in the museum and walk up on the base-side towards the main gate, as you look back they'll all come in to view.

David ...just revisiting this (sorry!) Glenn's original query referred to 8 Lynx's and 1 Gazelle in that particular location....presumably he has miscounted the Lynx's or one is unidentifiable? Where are the other Gazelle's located please?

Noted outside Hangar 2 after walking back from the Museum car park on Sunday 7th July were the following:

XX403, XX442 & XZ303 Gazzelle
ZE378, ZE380, ZF537, ZG885 & ZG921 Army Lynx

Partially read off were these:
XX3?? Gazelle
(XZ651)/O & ZF5?? Army Lynx
ZD26? grey Navy Lynx

The roadside hedge has been cut, ahead of today’s family day, meaning that these ex rtp ‘frames are now much easier to see.

All,

for the record, seen on a quick walk along the main road on 23/09/19 were the following still extant outside the hangar:-

Lynx: ZG885, ZF537, ZE380, ZG921
Gazelle; XX447, XX378

Plus a heli that looked like XZ.03 which I am assuming is Gazelle XZ303.

There were others not read off.

Regards

Brian
