Middle wallop info
Hey. I’m new to the group and a former spotter from up north but now living down in Southampton.
I’m thinking about heading to Wallop on Friday.
Apart from the Museum car park is there any other places to view the ramp?
Also is it worth a trip to Boscombe just in case?
Cheers,
Matt

Re: Middle wallop info
Hi Matt,
Welcome to the group.
The layby 51.152978° -1.548933°on Kentsboro gives a view of the ramp. With decent optics on a cold, calm morning the Apaches can be read from here whilst a Juno can be read on a hazy, windy day with any optics.
I recall an alternative view can be had from the top of the lane 51.143215° -1.559131°running past the sewage works off the road to the south of the airfield (take the first right after the layby.)
Note: The café veranda may give a slightly better view of aircraft on the ramp than the carpark.
( I won't ask why as a former spotter you would want to view the ramp )
Boscombe is very largely civil registered aircraft in recent times, but these can be watched from the track accessed off Allington Lane at 51.165525° -1.727225°.
Good luck,
Freeman

It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.

Cheers Freeman,
Yeah I’m getting back in to it so Middle Wallop is just down the road.
I’ll check out the locations and I might head to Odiham instead of Boscombe?
Thanks again

Re: Middle wallop info
Viewing at Odiham is tricky, at best.
I'd head over to Boscombe, still the chance of something worth seeing, however unlikely.

Re: Middle wallop info
Spent a few hours at Middle Wallop today not much going on apart from ZJ233 doing circuits and ZJ969.
A bit of a long shot but does any one know what the Junos X 5 and the 3 other Apaches were on the ramp today? I could not read them off!

Re: Middle wallop info
Zm530 was seen plotting near Chester on Thursday afternoon so he returned at some point ,
Which should leave ZM509, 515, 519, 523 & 528 as the remaining 5 all seen plotting this morning in the Salisbury area.
