Are they now? Yet to see any shows being cancelled. Still listed here: https://www.air-shows.org.uk/2019/01/eu ... ndar-2020/

Looks like no website up for it yet, though.

The first one on the list is the first to be cancelled.

Seems like a sensible precaution to me.

Anyone want to buy any recently purchased return flights to various European destinations?!

It is from 13.00 till 17.00 hours and is mainly to inform young people about a job in the air force.
There will be a few aircraft flying, no details on which yet

Can't really help with public transport to the area, but there's a tram service that runs along the coast. Coxy is next to a reasonably-sized seaside resort which has plenty of hotels. There's a Carrefour hypermarket at the road junction by the base, so I'd expect buses to run past there. From the Carrefour, if the public area is north side, it's about 10 minutes' walk along the N396. If it's southside it's 15-20 minutes' walk from there.

Have a look at Google maps, that'll show hotels etc, and then check for Lijnbus stops nearby.

Sorry I can't provide answers to all of your questions, whilst I'm very familiar with the area I always drive over there. The Carrefour's one of my regular stops on my shopping trips.

Hello,

Since the last airshow in 2011, there is a small scale open door at the base every year. This year it is planned to take place on July 1 (Wednesday), with the Belgian Aerobatic Championship following on July 4 + 5. During the weekend of July 4 + 5, there will also be the Navy open days at Zeebrugge.

The open door on July 1 takes place around the main hangar of the 40th Sqn, where the airshow used to be. Most years we have had demonstrations by the Red Devils, Agusta and the F-16, next to the based Helicopters. As it is during the week, there might be a fly-by by some other F-16s.

The Aerobatic Championship (BOACK) takes place at the Aeroclub side of the base, so better for pictures with the sun in the back. It will have more or less the same participating military teams, in addition to some Aerobatic aeroplanes. During the weekend, some of the teams will perform a fly-by at the Navy days at Zeebrugge.

Plenty of hotels in the area. Bus stop for the open door July 1, will be at the main military gate. For the aerobatic open door, the bus stop is just next to the aeroclub.

If you want to spend a week in the area, there will be an airshow this year at Ursel (Ursel Avia) on June 28th. This is about one hour drive from Koksijde.

If you have more questions, let me know ;-)
