Berlin ILA 2022

Post by podge » Thu Apr 14, 2022 6:18 am

Not a show that gets much coverage usually.
I’ve been attending every time since 2012 and never been disappointed.

Ticket shop is now open, link below

https://ila.messeticket.berlin/

I’ve never found anywhere that has information on what is expected there but if anyone has any idea what is due this time it would be interesting to know.

It is going to be very different this year as BER is now open. Very limited flying displays and this quote from one of the organisers: "nothing will fly that „smokes, sputters or stinks"

Used to be a great show until it moved to the new site at the western end, since then been very disappointing in layout and flying.

I have been to the previous three shows prior to Covid shutting down our civil liberties

I like the show, always plenty of German Army Helicopters and GAF typhoons dotted about plus I do take civil. The photos can be tricky but that doesn't bother me.

That was the past. This year the ILA will be a shadow of itself. Static will be very limited, as most of the taxiways will be used for operational use. Also, very limited demos. I hope this is the last ILA in Berlin, as Berlin doesn’t want it any more.
A part of the business meetings is done in the city, as some of the pavilions have been rented out to other parties.
For me a definite no-go this year. I went a couple of times in the past, and ILA was quite nice. But things have changed.

Thanks for the updates. I didn't realize that.

What a shame

Not sounding promising so far then.

Been every time since 2012 and never been disappointed, so would be a shame if it wasn’t up to it’s normal level.

Will hold fire for now but will probably end up doing a solo day trip again just to check it out.

Cheers for the info so far.

The weekend of ILA is the same as three other German shows at Kaufbeuren, Bückeburg and Manching. It should be possible to do a double header. It's also the same weekend as Saint Diz in France, so perhaps even a triple header.

Enough time that weekend for St.Dizier then.

True. Or Manching, Munich area. Manching was cancelled because of the G-7 conference that weekend.

Cheers Kurnass

Static looks ok but flying participants looks very poor to me.
