San Javier Airshow 2025

Post by slogen51 » Fri May 02, 2025 1:03 pm

This was brought to my attention this morning at Lakenheath

Looks good - chance to knock off some PC-21

Also 40th anniversary of Patrulla Águila (Eagle Patrol)

This year's event, the Festival Aéreo Internacional AIRE 25 will take place at San Javier's Academia General del Aire, with an open day on Saturday 14th June 2025 between 10:00 and 17:00.

The weekend event promises to be the largest air show ever seen in Spain, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Patrulla Águila (Eagle Patrol), the national Spanish aerobatic display team.

There will be static displays relating to the Air Academy and Spanish aviation history, and visitors will be able to see inside the different models of fighter aircraft, helicopters, and transport aircraft used by the Spanish Air and Space Force, the “Ejército del Aire y del Espacio”.

The annual event is truly international in nature with participants from across the globe, and the main air show takes place on Sunday 15th June 2025.

Looks great and can fly into the nearby Murcia Airport with Ryanair. Hopefully the show is held on the mil ramp and not the old civil one which is away from the PC-21 hangars etc.

It will be the last show for the Patrulla Aguilla with the Casa 101. Afterwards they will change for the PC-21. First with 5, later 7 PC-21s.

The Saturday is described as the airbase open day and show and the Sunday just the show. So most likely it is on the mil ramp.

Opening times etc in the link.

Went to one about 10 years ago, and the open day was held on the civil airport ramp, with the flying stuff coming from the air-force side.

Also, be aware that we were supposed to be flying from Bristol to Murcia, but about a week before Easyjet emailed to say the flight would be operating into nearby Alicante instead, due to the airshow.

Both things may be different this time, or not.

As far as I am aware Murcia has had a new airport for the past three or fours years, separate from the C-101/PC-21 base

Yes, the all new airport is 16 miles away from the base.

It would be handy if there was a TLP on at the same time

The little coastal town adjacent to San Javier is quite pretty and has a lovely beach - with a telescope or more easily these days a camera you can read off inbounds into the Spanish base as they come in across the sea

I have been to San Javier but not stayed as always heading up to Albacete, but there are several smallish hotels and plenty of bars and restaurants or you can stay in Alicante which isn't too far away and also has a lovely beach and loads of hotels
