Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
Yup, just have to sit and wait now to hope tourists are allowed back in and quarantine rules finished by then......
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...
Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
Hardly a surprise and if it had been on, pretty sure that no UK visitors would have been allowed in to Australia

Big disappointment for local resident population I expect. Let's hope they put on a big show next year and we can go if we want to.

Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
From some comments I've read online on the Aussie government websites, the Aussie borders to us Europeans could be closed until 2023. Avalon will take place in late February 2023. It might be a last minute announcement for open borders?
On the upside the team behind the show have already said it will be celebrating the by then belated 100th birthday of the RAAF, so it should be a good one!

Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
Looking likely that borders may be open as soon as Easter 2022, at least for the Eastern States.
Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
Looks like things are getting back to normal, borders open in the Eastern states on 21 Feb so it just needs to stay that way for 13 months!!Red Dragon wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 11:43 pmFrom some comments I've read online on the Aussie government websites, the Aussie borders to us Europeans could be closed until 2023. I hate to be a killjoy, but don't count your chooks too quickly. Remember that the world was "coming out of a pandemic" when Delta hit, then it was back to square one then as the world was "coming out of a pandemic" when Omicron hit then it was back to square one again. So just be cautious for the next few months. I think it will have to be a last minute decision (September - November time) from me as to wether I go. I'm hoping that third time will be lucky and that the pandemic has run it's course.dnswalton wrote: ↑Tue Feb 08, 2022 10:59 amLooks like things are getting back to normal, borders open in the Eastern states on 21 Feb so it just needs to stay that way for 13 months!!Red Dragon wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 11:43 pmFrom some comments I've read online on the Aussie government websites, the Aussie borders to us Europeans could be closed until 2023. Re: Avalon 2021 Cancelled
Judging by the way airline flight prices shot up yesterday with the borders announcement then that is the other factor to consider. There are a lot of Australian citizens still trying to get home and families trying to reunite so seats may end up being ins relatively short supply until the number of flights increase.Red Dragon wrote: ↑Tue Feb 08, 2022 11:30 amI hate to be a killjoy, but don't count your chooks too quickly.
