Trip through the Land of the Rising Sun

Post by Skywards » Fri Nov 23, 2018 3:01 pm

Hello all,

During two weeks at the beginning of this month, I made a trip to Japan essentially to enjoy the Phantom's activity at Hyakuri. We also visited Iruma (spotting + airshow), Matsushima and Komatsu.
A very good trip with sun and lots of jets.

International surveys show that 80-90% of the young people in Asia are near-sighted so getting pilots in with a 20/20 vision is very hard!
This leads to lower levels of influx of (military) pilots in countries such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

So your answer is YES, eye corrections are possbile. I think in The Netherlands wearing contact lenses up to certain levels is not an issue either, haven't seen too much pilots wearing thick-rimmed spectacles like you phantom driver though :P
