RC-135U Combat Sent (UPDATE with tankers)

Post by Yunglee » Thu Oct 14, 2021 6:46 pm

Managed to get a day off work on the 13th October and headed south to Suffolk hoping for something nice to turn up and it certainly did, well after a while holding for runway maintenance

I also had a new camera to try out (Nikon Z7), so with a fair bit a trepidation I stuck to my game plan and didn't switch back to the trusty D500 and glad I did...hope you like this

Hi Lee,

Great shot, love to see myself. Quick question any lag when panning with the Z7.

Kind regards
Rob

Hi,

I've only had it a couple of weeks and apart from a few of 737's arriving at Doncaster this was my first proper outing with it. At the moment I'd say panning is OK, but as is widely reported the autofocus is not as good as my D500 and I knew that before buying it (aviation wasn't my intended primary use for the Z7). However I got sharp and in focus shots so it's not all bad! I was shooting at 5FPS (perhaps it's 5.5) and the lag was OK and I was able to pan through the approaches no problem. I'm avoiding higher frame rates due avoid the EVF lag.

Give it a month or so and I'll do a write up in the photography section on Fighercontrol with my experiences of using it for aviation photography.

Lee.
