Lakenheath 11/03/11

Post by benyboy » Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:00 pm

Hi all.

I have been around on FC for a while but never had anything good enough to post in this section.
So a lot of firsts for me here, first photo thread, first time not using automatic on the camera, first visit to Lakenheath and first visit to Mildenhall :D

Thank you to Slick for the lift and help with camera settings :thumb:

A couple to start, I am still wading through the hundreds of others :D

Cheers, Stig.

Thank you for the comments, they are much appreciated.
Stigorige, thank you for the info.

It was nice to get up close to the Eagles. I see them and have them on the scanner every day, up here in Yorkshire, but its nothing compared to being there with the noise and smell of 12 Eagles running just the other side of the fence :D

I know the props are not great but just for the record :D

Although I had a great day out at Lakenheath, as we all know, there were some serious events going on, on the base, hence this visitor. Thoughts with the family and friends.
We did not make it back over in time for the memorial fly past but from the pics I saw it was a very fitting tribute.
I would be interested to find out who was on this aircraft. Who ever it was, was important enough to reposition 12 Eagles to get it out.

I have stacks more pics but nothing you have not seen before. I will be making a start on the Mildenhall stuff tomorrow . mmmmmmmmmmm smokey E.3a :D

John, I might see you there. Its just amazing. Between the two bases, I dont think we had 5 minutes with out some thing in the air :D

Thank you everybody for looking and for the comments.

Regards

Ben

Would of been the USAFE boss himself, best not to upset the boss.

Thank you for the info.
Those Eagles were on the ground running for a good half hour, forty five minutes and the reshuffle took alot of doing.

Thanks for the comment.
I was using a (borrowed) Nikon D60 with a 70-200 lens. It might be better to ask slick about the settings  but it is some thing like f/8 1/800 s ISO 200

Cheers
