Lakenheath 2014/12/30

Post by igorski » Tue Dec 30, 2014 4:10 pm

Busy morning at Lakenheath, these are from about 9am to midday.

Interesting or not? F-15E 605 (photo 20) is flying with no conformal tanks.

A cracking set there, don't think I've seen an 'E' without the conformal tanks before
It looks like today was as good as yesterday :)
All the best

Funny, I just noticed that on my pics. First saw the lack of AAM rails on the wing pylon which is unusual, then saw no SNIPER/LANTIRN pods or pylons and finally no CFT's. I can only guess it's out of rework and it might be the singleton today that went down for the Dover Tour, as he wouldn't need any of that kit for a sightseeing flight.

Hi Trev, yesterday was just as busy in the morning although pretty much the same line up. Clouded over by early afternoon but still plenty in the morning. I'm hardly a 'spray and pray' photographer and I reckon I've done over 700 shots each day. If I hadn't spent yesterday afternoon on a fruitless Osprey chase over at Mildenhall it would have been more.

Thanks for all the comments. Nice shooting in winter, much reduced haze over the tarmac!

I seem to remember one aircraft came straight out from the woods onto the runway without the usual few minutes stop, but I couldn't say of it was 605, didn't capture many departures from in the field.

91-0605 flew as Duster72, originally part of a four-ship with two that scrubbed. He should have been Duster73 originally according to the conversation with ops. They took an enroute heading north-westerly after departure.

97-0222 as Rico51 (with 52 having gone tech) was the Dover tour aircraft.

Very nice set and great catch on the eagle without the conformal tanks.
