The Russians obviously have a more relaxed take on FOD. Incredible images (and your other sets recently), I'd echo Baltimore's thoughts, could tell us the story behind you getting up close to hardware like this?

Impressive Chris ... is it from last years visit?

Its a mirror system to give the backseater a forward view during takeoff and landing. The Backseater has emergency controls in case the pilot is incapacitated but his forward view is virtually nil. The mirror flips up on top of the canopy and reflects the image of the forward view down to another mirror that flips down in front of the radar operator. Simple, cheap and effective.
