Log/req Pisa/LIRP/PSA and surroundings 07-10Mar24

Post by andymac » Wed Mar 13, 2024 4:06 pm

Arrived 07th afternoon.

most serials taken from flight trackers.

MM53-3200 C119 still graces the corner of the military apron.

A few visitors on the main military apron...
MM62245 F900, and a brace of AV8s MM7199/1-03 and MM7213/1-07 being refuelled,
departing together soon after

C130J MM62195 landed just ahead of me and C27J MM62217 just behind. The Herc flew night circuits later.
Carabinieri AW139 MM82081 departed

Stored C130s were 1 outside hangar east of 22 thresholds and 3 on the small apron southwest
of the first.

AW139 ITOMS is the locally based (University hospital?) helimed and was seen frequently through the days.

08th March.

2 Hercs went out separately in the morning, MM62194 + MM62195.

Small town so time to find a few W+Rs
Opposite side of the road from the tourist area is the technical school and outside they have a trio of
airframes... MM6941 F104, MM54153 MB326 + F86 MM19782 - accessible but hemmed in by vehicles etc
And onto the Aviatruppe museum a 20min walk away. Outside is MM80681 UH1 behind a gate. Access to
the museum is by PPR only + during certain hours - a phone number on the gate went unanswered. Can
get a reasonable shot of it if 3/4 rear view is ok.
A lone Tornado went over at medium level during the afternoon and only other item of interest was the
same Carabinieri AW139 out + about.

09th March

MM82081 out and about again, C130J MM62189 departed, and State Police AW139 MM82034 departed to the
Florence area.
KC767 MM62227 arrived for a 2hr visit, and a healthy walk found a couple more W+Rs in the southeast of town
(Ospedaletto area) outside the Farmigea factory. Pics through railings easily possible but limited angles.
IVFMZ B205 and a rather dismantled F84F MM56-9623 (marked as MM53-6695).

An unknown C27J was flying circuits around lunchtime

10th March

on a delayed departure due thunderstorms, a quick glance across to the west hangar area saw
2 C130Js and 2 C27Js outside.

Andy
The 3 stored C-130’s far side at Pisa are codes only 46-47,46-49 and 46-54. Read codes in November last year. There was a C-130 near the maintainance hangars at main ramp area with no engines this was 46-58 but there was no stored C-130 at maintainance hangar you mentioned in November. Regards Iain
